Time To Register For Summer Camp
February 20th, 2011With the cold of winter looming over most of the country lately, people seem to be dreaming of those warm, sunny days that are still a few, yet long, months away. As the frost covers the ground and long snow days home from school become more frequent, parents begin to wonder if summer will ever arrive! Let’s think CAMP! Yes, those kiddos will need a place to go this summer, when it does finally arrive, after the snow melts and school is out until the fall.
Do parents really plan this far in advance for their children regarding summer schedules? Absolutely. This is the perfect time of year to begin researching and reserving space in the activity of choice. Before those favorite summer sports camps, both overnight and day, fill up, make sure to ask your children what activities they want to do over the summer months. After all, they are the ones participating daily in these programs. Be sure to check family calendars and plan any vacations, but don’t forget to make camp a priority for your children.
Camps come in every size, shape and color! Everything from sports to drama to art to wilderness to skiing. There’s something out there for every child. Make sure to really investigate the program by contacting the camp directly. “Parents need to ask lots of questions to camp directors prior to selecting a camp for their child such as what the facilities are like, what is the daily schedule, is the camp accredited by the American Camp Association,” says Craig Rosen, owner of Camp All-Star in Maine and New York. “Sleep away camp helps children become more independent and builds strong self confidence while making lifelong friendships.”
With the economic situation these days, most summer camp activities are offering early registration discounts to incentivize parents to sign up and save some money. “We actually offer a larger discount this year than in previous years for families that register early and for sibling discounts in honor of our 10th season,” added Rosen. “Every little bit helps, and camper families have been very responsive to the discounts.”
