BAE Systems employee presented prize by TV’s dragon

July 2nd, 2009

A member of BAE Systems Submarine Solutions’ Corporate Responsibility team has scooped a top award at a prestigious ceremony.

Paula Short won the Graduate category in the Cumbria Chamber of Commerce Profiting Through Skills – Excellence in Cumbria Awards 2009.

The 25-year-old Communications Advisor was presented with her prize by millionaire investor, and former star of TV’s Dragons’ Den, Richard Farleigh at the Rheged Centre, near Penrith.

Paula, who has worked at the Barrow site for 18 months, saw off stiff competition from two other candidates to land the award.

She said: “It was a surprise even to make the shortlist, so to actually win it given the standard of the other nominations was really pleasing.”

The awards, which were held on 14 May, celebrated the success of individuals and businesses who invest their time, money and effort into learning and development, benefiting both themselves and Cumbria’s economy.

Paula, who went to Chetwynde School and Barrow Sixth Form College before completing a BA (hons) degree in Marketing Management at Manchester Metropolitan Business School, is continuing to learn on the job.

As well as studying for a Diploma at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, she has also secured a workplace mentorship from the former leader of the Barrow Labour party, Terry Waiting, who now works as a Consultant for BAE Systems Submarine Solutions. Paula said: “I’m now able to pass on these new skills to the wider community as part of my role in the Corporate Responsibility team. It presents me with the opportunity to visit schools and colleges to explain what BAE Systems does, and hopefully help attract some of them to the business in the future.”  She was nominated for the award by Joe Sides, BAE Systems Submarine Solutions’ Corporate Responsibility Manager.
He said: “Paula has a very determined attitude which has made a huge difference towards the team she works within.”

Proposed Amendment to US Economic Recovery Package Could Pay for Itself with 1/3 Trillion Dollars in Annual savings and Potentially Create 48,000 More Jobs

February 4th, 2009

Wilmington, DE - Ayess Industries International Corp., While the American Recovery and Investment Plan is designed to create more than 3 million jobs, there is another proposal coming out that offers the potential for up to an additional 48,000 American jobs and is designed to eventually save over 350 billion a year. Its all part of a massive planned government proposal put forth by Ayess Industries International Corp.  The company states that its all possible with a government in power that embraces change and since the Obama Administration represents the greatest change in decades, now is the time.” The company started the architecture for these programs after 9/11  in an effort to improve national security and uses the 9/11 Commission Report to support their findings.

They began by developing a system to inspect 100% of inbound containers at ports and land crossings in an effort to eliminate smuggling of conventional and nonconventional weapons and add that it will be a significant blow to the drug trade as well.  Company reps continued by stating that the present worsening global economic conditions and existing poverty is a serious and rapidly growing threat to communities and those affected could easily be used to deliver bombs and in large enough numbers could create civil unrest and the only way to avoid this is to ensure that all Americans have basic housing needs to maintain their dignity. To address this they designed a massive affordable housing proposal that the company says could virtually end homelessness in America using significantly less tax dollars than are currently being spent on social housing.

Addressed simultaneously were security issues for travelers with what the company calls Mass Transit Security Solutions and our sources admit that the technology is not yet available to implement this part of the plan.

The backbone of their proposal is a database driven system dubbed the National Access System which incorporates hundreds of proprietary technologies which offer transparency and accountability to governments in addition to tying together all services at all levels of government while enhancing privacy. An inside source stated “any country with an efficient and accountable government can support business and create sustainability.  The Restructuring of America Plan includes accountable management of the public debt load; accountable decision making to prevent more ‘bridges to nowhere’; complete solutions for national security including addressing issues with illegal aliens and even a proposal to fix the problems of socialism in a democratic and capitalistic society. This system enhances the privacy and safety of the public.” He went on to say that interest is growing around the world for the Ayess cost effective product lines and several states are now being looked at for possible factory locations.  Within the next decade, when the unfunded liabilities issue comes to a  head, the resulting crisis will dwarf the problems facing the world economy today and many governments will have little choice but to implement programs like those proposed by Ayess Industries and those who adopt such programs now will be in a much stronger position.
