The launch of the new dining room at the Borrowdale Hotel was a truly sparkling affair as guests were treated to a Champagne Celebration dinner which included a different champagne with every course.
The new look dining room now appears larger, warmer and more inviting with rich gold’s and burgundy bringing the hotel up to date yet still keeping its charm. It was the perfect setting for Champagne coming to Cumbria.
Stephen Wilcock, General Manager of the hotel took advantage of his Master Sommelier skills to work with Jean Pierre Marniquet – the hotel’s specialist grower and wine maker from the Champagne region. Working with Head Chef they created a delicious menu that married the flavors and textures of the food with the different champagnes produced by Jean Pierre.
Guests heard Stephen explain the history of Champagne and also how this particular Champagne is nurtured through production in Jean Pierre Marniquet’s small, privately owned vineyard. “His seven hectare vineyard is very close to some of the most famous champagne names, but as a small grower producer, Jean Pierre can stay very close to the production process to ensure the best from his grapes.”
Jean Pier and his daughter Cyrille travelled from France especially for the evening. They were invited to explain the complexities and subtleties of each champagne as it was served with each course.
Coffee was served with an old Fin de Champagne which was provided by Pascal Delorme from Grapevine Wine Merchant who also supply the hotel with most of their wine.
Diners described the evening as “truly incredible – a wonderful way to reopen the restaurant and a fantastic introduction to a great range of champagne.”
The redevelopment of the restaurant is something that Stephen Wilcock is very proud of. As a Master Sommelier he is now eagerly waiting for the completion of a Wine Cellar and wine tasting bar in the dining room. “Guests really enjoyed learning about the Champagnes we served and want to learn more about our wines.” He said “the Wine Cellar is almost complete and we are looking forward to many Wine tasting events in the future. The Borrowdale hotel has come a long way in the last two years – introducing the wine cellar is something new for Lake District Hotels and it will make us unique in the area.”
Anyone interested in finding out more about the Borrowdale Hotels new wine tasting cellar should contact Stephen Wilcock at the Borrowdale Hotel on 017687 77224 or visit http://www.lakedistricthotels.net/borrowdalehotel/index.htm.

Lake District Hotels are pleased to announce a capacity of almost double previously offered for brides to be.
Brides-to-be now have the option of choosing a marquee on the lawn to host their wedding breakfast for up to 200 guests
The Lake District has long been a favourite location for weddings playing host to some of the most picturesque settings you could wish for. With winter weddings becoming ever more popular – the location can still be picture perfect with spectacular snow capped mountains and frosty lakes.
The Inn on the Lake has lawns that sweep down to their own private jetty on the edge of Lake Ullswater – it is one of the most photographed jetties in the country and is a favourite with brides all year round.
Voted the most romantic location in which to marry, ‘Lake District’ hotels are constantly upgrading what they can offer brides. At the recent Inn on the Lake wedding fair delayed by the November floods, over 150 brides witnessed the launch of two new wedding venues in the hotel gardens.
Almost doubling their capacity, the Lake District Hotels Ltd marquee on the lawn to host their wedding breakfast for up to 200 guests; the views across the gardens, lake and mountains provide a very romantic backdrop and allows the Ullswater area to attract larger bridal parties.
Beverley Kelso, Wedding Co-ordinator at Lake District Hotels Ltd Inn on the Lake says “No matter how large or how small the wedding party, we want brides to fall in love with their venue. As well as offering marquee for large weddings, we have also introduced a very special intimate place to take wedding vows – a Victorian style gazebo close to the water’s edge. There is no other place like it in the whole of the Lakes and it is attracting brides from as far away as London and Dubai.”
The hotel staff challenged themselves to create the ultimate outdoor venue for wedding vows, somewhere unique and very romantic. It was last summer when they began designing the ornate Victorian style Gazebo which was created in the garden during the winter. Spring brides will be the first to christen the gazebo which is set to rival the jetty as a premier location for wedding pictures.

Goosemire Cottages, the family owned and run Lake District self catering business, are pleased to launch their January sale.
Everyone is looking for a bargain at this time of year so why should the sales be confined to the high street? Goosemire Cottages are offering discounts on full weeks booked in each of their 46 self catering properties. The discounts range from £30 – £50 depending on the property size.
The number of self catering holidays in the UK has risen quite dramatically in the last 2 years. Various factors have contributed to this for example the poor Euro exchange rate resulting in tourists staying in the UK and the cost savings of self catering compared with a hotel stay. A self catering holiday allows freedom, the ability to cook within the property so saving on restaurant bills and is an excellent type of holiday for families and pet owners.
Goosemire Cottages have available 46 traditional Lake District cottages for discerning visitors (Ranging from 1 to 7 bedrooms, sleeping up to 10). Most are rustic 17th or 18th Century Lakeland cottages or lovely barn conversions, where antiquity and modern comforts have been beautifully combined. The atmosphere and idiosyncrasies of each property are reflected on their website which offers full online booking facilities and information and images on each of their properties.
For more information on the Goosemire Lake District cottages January sale or their last minute booking discounts, visit http://www.goosemirecottages.co.uk/special-offers

Developed by Sweeney Properties Ltd right in the heart of the Lake District National Park, this is the latest addition to the Lake District Inns & Cottages portfolio of high quality accommodation.
Located just off the A591 & only 5 minutes away from Keswick on the site of the Old School House and Youth Hostel at Legburthwaite near Keswick, it will be a stunning 40 bed Lodge Hotel. The Lake District Lodge will be opening in the early summer of 2010.
The design, by local award winning architects Savage & Chadwick, fits perfectly into the beautiful landscape, utilising local traditional building features and materials, whilst having a light and airy contemporary feel. This is achieved by a two story glass atrium at the heart of the building and the mixing of cedar wood cladding and local stone work under a Westmorland slated roof.
Company Managing Director Derek Sweeney says: “This is a really exciting project for us as it will add to our ability to cater for another sector of our clientele who are looking for high quality accommodation but do not want the full range of services provided by our Inns.
Derek Sweeney also quoted “over the last seventeen years we have seen many changes in tourism in the Lake District. Our Keswick and Grasmere hotels and cottages are all located in the heart of The National Park and are a very good barometer for measuring the ebb and flow of business over the years. The Lake District continues to be a superb holiday destination both for our domestic visitors and international guests alike. Even with the lure of cheap flights to most European and now international destinations we continue to be extremely busy with both our loyal regular clientele and new visitors.

It was pamper time at the Lodore Falls Hotel this week at a networking event organized by the Cumbria Chamber of Commerce.
The event was a sell out in only a few days and more than thirty ladies enjoyed an afternoon of relaxed networking between treatments and afternoon tea.
The Cumbria Chamber of Commerce has been organizing a variety of different events for members and this is the second time they have gathered at the Lodore Falls Hotel this year. Earlier in May the Chamber hosted an event at the hotel which was aimed at women. The positive feedback from that evening lead Suzanne Caldwell, the Chambers Enterprise & Development Manager to organize this Spa pamper networking event.
Suzanne said “We recently held a golf day which was mainly attended by men so we thought SPA networking afternoon would be perfect for businesswomen who can use the day to meet new contacts and take time to address their work life balance. The Lodore Falls Hotel is a fantastic venue, they are used to catering for groups and events and the food is always first class. The facilities are excellent and we have been well looked after – we enjoyed afternoon tea in our robes and felt very comfortable doing so!”
Kit Graves, Director of the luxury Lake District Hotels Ltd Group said “Christine Bibby our Spa Manager has worked hard to make sure our Chamber guest had chance to experience SPA treatments in peace and tranquility – there were a lot of treatments and it was important to us that they didn’t feel rushed. They were certainly very relaxed when they enjoyed their afternoon tea and I am sure a lot of networking was done too – just in a more informal way!”
Anyone interested in finding out more about organizing group Spa Days at the hotel should contact Christine at the Lodore Falls Hotel on 017687 77285 or visit http://www.lakedistricthotels.net/spabreaks. The Borrowdale Hotel steps back in time with an exhibition of old photographs depicting life in the Borrowdale valley hundreds of years ago. The exhibition is set to run until the end of October.
The display, by kind permission of Patricia Roscamp, is made up from historical photographs that have been hung in the Borrowdale Hotel bar. It is quite fitting that the photographic exhibition is being held at the Borrowdale hotel in the Lake District – built over 140 years ago it was the first purpose built hotel in the valley.
General Manager Stephen Wilcock is also marking the occasion by introducing a luncheon and dinner menu that is representative of the 1800’s. Dinner guests can choose from today’s a-la-carte menu, or choose dishes from a menu available to guests in the 19th century. The menu is as close to tradition as possible, but certainly doesn’t go as far as Heston Blumenthal’s Tudor feasts shown on TV last autumn. Diners can choose from two, three or four courses which includes Victorian favourites like ‘Ham Hock Terrine with pureed peas, roast goose and an old fashioned desert of Lemon Posset with almond brandy.
Head Chef Peter Starauscheck has tried to replicate 19th century dishes wherever possible, but knows tastes have changed! “Local ingredients and seasonality have always been important, but Chef’s in 1800 would have goose on the menu any time of the year – today geese are generally available around Christmas, so we had to place a special order to ensure we could include Goose on the menu. Once the Pheasant season begins we will be introducing a three bird roast of goose stuffed with a chicken and pheasant.”
Lunch time visitors to this Lake District hotel can sample the ‘Bygone Days two or three course luncheon’ while they peruse the photos and history of the valley; potted salmon with pink peppercorns, egg, lemon, peppers and a tomato vinaigrette, or chunky vegetable and bacon soup, followed by slow braised shoulder of mutton served upon stewed pearl barley and vegetables. Proper puddings were certainly fashionable in the early 1800’s and a rhubarb and Bramley apple crumble mixed with oats and nuts would be warmly welcomed – then and now.
Stephen Wilcock said “we have completed most of the hotel refurbishment and thought the exhibition would be a good opportunity for local people to come and have a look. We have mounted the old pictures and hung them in the bar so visitors can see how the valley used to look while they enjoy lunch afternoon tea or dinner. Adding a 19th century dinner menu certainly tested Chef – but like today, they would have used as many local lake District ingredients as possible and diners will be delighted when they see what we can offer.”
For more details on the exhibition and details of the 19th century dinner menu at the Borrowdale Hotel please contact the General Manager – Stephen Wilcock on 017687 77224, http://www.lakedistricthotels.net or http://www.lakedistricthotels.net/borrowdalehotel/index.htm.

Looking for cheap hotels in Singapore is not a hard thing to do, what with so many affordable choices mushrooming up here and there. Singapore hotels range from downright expensive to affordable, and if you want to stay on that side of the spectrum you would best read on. With a few tips and a bit of know-how, you will surely enjoy your stay in the Lion City without even going broke.
Looking for cheap hotels in Singapore might have you looking at the Bedok District or the Tanamera Station, which is near the hotel. If you are going to be away in the city and exploring all day, the Singapore hotels found in this part of the Lion City is a good choice. This is because they might be far, but the cost of the travel from this place to the places of interest will be offset with the competitive rates of staying each night here. A big plus is that these cheap hotels in Singapore, if you choose this area, are conveniently near the train station (about five minutes’ walk away) for easy transportation needs.
If you want cheap hotels in Singapore that are closer to the central business district, there are a good number of them near Orchard Road – the road to be for the best in shopping and entertainment. Specifically, the Killiney Avenue road has some pretty good Singapore hotels that you could book in. the rates can go as low as forty Singapore dollars per night, and you could even get better deals if you switch to a big room, if there are many of you, or if you plan to stay there for a long time (like, more than a week to three weeks). These places are great because they are walking distance to shopping and restaurants.
Staying in Singapore hotels is great, but remember that there are some reminders about booking – such as calling in advance about your intent to stay and make a reservation and deposit, or checking out the rates for the season. Depending on the month that you intend to stay in the Lion City, you could actually save more if you end up going at a time when most of these hotels are offering good discounts on their rates or have nice promotions.
There are many Singapore hotels around, but if you want to save money you’d need to know where the cheap hotels in Singapore can be found. This way, you have a better budget allocation for food and entertainment.

People who love to travel these days often try to look for bargains and the best deals when it comes to their accommodation and their travel arrangements. When you are looking for the best deals for your travel needs, there are a few things you need to do. Compare hotel prices before you book hotel reservations. Doing this before you do decide on which hotel to stay in will help you find the cheapest rates for some of the loveliest accommodations you can find anywhere.
To compare hotel prices, you will need to find out what deals certain booking agents and travel sites offer. These different sites have many different rates and offerings for travelers, and finding the right price for the hotel you want to stay in before you book hotel rooms for you and the rest of your party will help you save a lot of money. Since these sites have different room rates and different room packaged rates to offer their clients, looking at a lot of these sites to find the best deals is needed. You may need to look at five to ten sites that offer packages with cheap rooms and affordable air fares. If the prices differ by only a dollar or so between each agent, then the price difference can be negligible. If the price difference is more than ten dollars between these booking agents, then you know you have found a good bargain.
Hassles that come with looking for the right hotel room to stay in on your vacation include landing on sites that actually have hidden costs that you don’t see on their package pages. You might see that after you compare hotel prices on their site and on other sites make theirs seem ideal without your knowing of underlying costs. Look for these costs first before you book hotel rooms for your trip. Most bookings are non-refundable or carry a penalty fee for cancellations so care is necessary when booking from these sites.
Some people find it tedious to look through the many different travel booking sites to compare hotel prices and to find the best deals for their travel. They sometimes book hotel rooms with the first one they think is right for their budget. If you are traveling with your family and every single dollar in your budget counts, comparison shopping online for these travel deals is a necessary thing to do to help you maximize your vacation budget. Finding a site that can help you compare these many different sites at one time without your having to jump from one site to another is ideal and can be very time saving.
To compare hotel prices and then to be able to book hotel rooms immediately after you find the right bargain for your vacation is something that a lot of people will truly appreciate. A site that gives you that can truly help you cut corners when it comes to searching, deciding, and booking the accommodations you want and need for your trip.
When you book hotel rooms for your trip, compare hotel price packages first online for the best deals.

Most people haven’t got too much experience when it comes to choosing a destination for their vacation. They rely on the experience of others to determine the course of their actions. It has been a long time since I have done this and each destination that I have chosen has been great. This is why in this article I will present to you two of the most recent destinations I have chosen.
When you travel a lot, you might think that there are a limited number of destinations you can visit. This is very far from the truth. Considering that you are not someone that visits places where there are seven stars hotels, there are lots of places to visit. In my travels I have reached a point when I had to try out the Netherlands as a place for a vacation.
Since it was a vacation, I didn’t have the time to visit the whole country, however I had the pleasure of spending some time in an area that suited my needs greatly. Most people choose the areas that are closest to the mainland, but this is one of the first mistakes they can do. I for one chose the south-west part of this country, and I visited the settlements of Renesse and Kamperland.
The first town I visited was Kamperland. At first glance this is not a monster town that you would normally find in Europe. There are just over 1500 inhabitants and they can make any outsider feel just like at home because of their hospitality and character.
The best part of Kamperland is that it lies just 11 kilometers or just over 6.5 miles away from the capital of Middelburg. If you find yourself bored of what you find here, you can always visit the main capital of this province and find your entertainment there.
But whenever I go on a vacation I seek to recharge my batteries, relax most of the time and just spend quality time away from the daily stress. The town of Kamperland will provide the greatest relaxation time you will ever get wherever you go.
After leaving this town, I settled in the village called Renesse. This was one of the greatest stops I could ever make. Even though it is roughly the same size as Kamperland, in the opinion of some people even bigger, it doesn’t hold the status of town, and it still remains at village.
The village of Renesse, even though many haven’t even heard of it, myself included, is a very popular resort, but mainly among German people. It has earned its popularity due to its many activities that will help you enjoy a relaxing vacation.
One of the greatest things about Renesse is that, if you visit it in the summer, you are able to catch free bus rides. This is only available for this part of the year. But the beauty of the landscape can only be captured with a non-motorized transportation such as a bicycle.
There are lots of relaxing activities that will fill your time. If you are interested in a vacation that will help you relax and recharge your batteries, you should plan a vacation in Renesse or Kamperland. For this you should visit the website zeeland-urlaub.com.
Popular vacation destinations are no longer to offer you the peace and quiet you need for relaxation. If you want to recharge your batteries properly, you should visit the website mentioned afore and plan a vacation in Renesse or Kamperland.

Many people find it quite hard detecting whether an accommodation is of five-star rating or not. Hoteliers often use some techniques while booking companies may use another. In order for you to get a clearer understanding of the classification for hotels Las Vegas and hotels Miami, it pays to take a look at some of the qualifications used. The amenities may often speak of the categorization of these accommodations. Read along and check on how you may read the stars.
Five-star to three-star hotels Las Vegas. There are casino and non-casino hotels in Las Vegas. Five-star hotels Las Vegas are expected to provide luxurious and upscale rooms to its clientele. Customer service is also considered to be superior than other hoteliers in town. All amenities you are looking for are seen under one roof. Expect that everything else is world-class. Four-star hotels are those with high-end facilities and services inside or near the hotel. Three-star hotels on the other hand, may lack the high-end features incorporated in those with four stars.
Five-star to three star hotels Miami. Since Miami is known to be a great access to the beach, any hotel found in the beach front with complete amenities and luxurious services is classified as a five-star hotel. Hotels Miami under this category are expected to provide all that you want to have from a vacation to the city. Four-star hotels still provide high-end luxury though not as promising as five star hotels. If you wish to eat outside, then restaurants are easily accessed. Staying in a hotel is something most people will look forward to in a trip. The accommodation is a better option to stay stress-free all the time. When it comes to London hotels, you also have such great alternatives to choose from. Whether you are looking for the most luxurious hotels or you want budget-friendly options, a choice is available. Expect that hotels in London will provide a memorable stay. However, there are some things you must also consider as a traveler.
London hotels are not all about the money you will invest. Most people conclude that the more expensive the hotel room rate is, the better the services are. When you happen to compare hotels in London, there are five-star hotels that are more budget-friendly than others. Despite this, expect that services may be far better in cheaper options. Sometimes, it is sad to note that the price of other accommodations include the name it carries. When they tend to be popular to the world’s most prominent figures, the tendency is for the hoteliers to increase the price.
Comfort is an essential factor. When looking at London hotels, this is a better consideration than the amount of money you need to spend for the travel. Every hotel experience should be worth remembering in the sense that your needs are fulfilled by the room you rent from the list provided by hotels in London. If you are eyeing for a more comfortable stay or something that is far from what you have in your homes, then you may always look for that. As long as you feel everything is in place, there is no way you should doubt the price you will pay.
Customer service and satisfaction is a must. Often, it is quite disappointing for you to pay a hefty amount with a poorly-rendered service. How else will you remember London hotels in a more favorable angle if you are not satisfied at all? Make sure that when you pick hotels in London, you must have an idea of what is in store for you. Perhaps, you may use previous customer testimonials to help you in the decision-making process.
Access to different areas within the city is also important. When you book for London hotels, you must look forward to an accommodation that is situated near the best tourist spots in town. When hotels are fully-booked perhaps you may arrange some things with the hotel’s management. Check whether they are willing to extend some services such as transportation options. Maybe, there are also special packages when it comes to touring the place. What matters is that hotels in London will help you with all your concerns.
On top of all these things, it is best to book London hotels with a trusted company. Online service providers must be more than willing to present to you a list of options you have. Prices must be clearly indicated plus all important features of hotels in London must be presented. This is your license to make the most appropriate decision. To reiterate, it is not all about the money you are willing to spend. It is about the comfort you will feel while you are in these venues.
Our list of Hotels in London provides a description of each venue. Feel free to browse our site for London Hotels. Your satisfaction is our concern.
